Independent Module design. There are three modules in this organ: A pressure box, bellows, and a set of 20 organ pipes. These modules are made separately and individually and may be installed into the inner structure of the organ in different ways. That provides more flexibility in organ design, especially when making the organ from a kit. Modules can be placed according to the owner's preferences, for instance adding animated figurines or placing them in different forms of the organ itself. Full descriptions of each module are provided on the KITS & ACCESSORIES page. (Picture 1)

Back-loaded Pressure Box. The pressure box (where the music roll is loaded) is placed on the back of the organ (not on the top of the organ, which is more traditional). This increases flexibility by allowing the monkey doll, percussions, or other boxes with music rolls to be placed on the top of the organ.

"Drop-&-Play" cartridge spool loaded system. Loading the music roll is very simple. Just pull the cartridge like a drawer, drop in the spool with the music roll, and push the cartridge back. Now you only have to hook the wired end of the roll to the pin of the upper drum. The spool is then engaged automatically. (Picture 2)

Large pressure-box window. The 4-1/2" x 6" window in the door of the pressure box is much bigger than the window in any other organ. It allows you to see the music roll's perforation and control the starting and finishing of the tune more efficiently. (Picture 3)

Classical "church organ" solid wood pipes design. While the organ's mechanical action is built like a contemporary high-tech device using ball bearings, timing pulleys and belts, gears, and so on, the pipes are constructed in the traditional way like in church organs. Each of the 20 pipes are made of solid 1/4" thick poplar together with walnut or cherry wood. These are then sealed inside and outside for weatherproofing purposes. All pipes come pre-tuned. (Picture 4)

"Main axle PULL-&-PUSH" play/rewind system. The organ action has two modes: "play" and "rewind". When the music roll rewinds the speed of the roll is 10 times faster than in "play" mode (in "rewind" mode the bellows are not in operation). To switch modes you simply pull out the main axle with the crank handle, and push it back to switch back to "play" mode.

Decorative paneling. Decorative panels (including both sides, top and front) are modular and can easily be replaced or removed to gain full access to the organ's action. (Picture 5)

Ready for automaton installation. Every YANKEE DOODLE organ has a special pulley for driving automated figurines (if you intend to install them). An automaton may be placed on top of the organ; since the top panel is replaceable, automata are easily interchangeable on the fly.

Available in both "kit" and "completed organ" form. You can order a complete organ including decorative panels, make the panels yourself and install onto a preassembled organ, or buy a do-it-yourself kit. The kit contains ready-made modules and takes only a few hours to assemble (full instructions provided). Buying a kit ensures premium quality materials but saves you several hundred dollars over a pre-assembled organ.
